This book was a bit unexpected. Who would’ve thought of a castle that is alive and that can add rooms or switch around hallways? That is exactly what this book did. It was a fun adventure. I grew to like Celie. She is one of the princesses at the castle. The castle likes her a lot and she finds the castle a big help when the castle and kingdom are threatened. I enjoyed using my imagination and thinking of what it would be like to be in a castle that if it liked you suddenly your room was soft and luxurious. Or if the castle didn’t like you it would seem to get smaller and cramped and military like. It was so cool to cheer for the royal family that lived in the castle and hope they came out of it alright. Jessica Day George makes a story feel real even though there is magic and things that are not typical in real life. It seemed that it could happen. I had fun with this book.
A place to record the books I've read. With a short review on each. I strive to never tell too much of the story to ruin it for anyone. BUT, if it is a picture book, I often tell the endings. “Of course anyone who truly loves books buys more of them than he or she can hope to read in one fleeting lifetime. A good book, resting unopened in its slot on a shelf, full of majestic potentiality, is the most comforting sort of intellectual wallpaper.” ― David Quammen

Peasant Queen by Cheri Chesley
This was a fun little tale that I enjoyed.
Krystal is a girl that her brother's take care of since her mom is blind and her father has died. Her brothers set up an arranged marriage for her. She is not happy about it and runs away. As she runs away though she is surrounded by some guards and kidnapped. Magic is used and she is very far from home and taken to a castle and to King Gregory. This is a different life and there is lots of adventure in this distant land.
One thing about the book I would have liked to have different is I kept wanting to make the main character eat. It seemed she never ate. She was always too involved in what was going on around her to bother eating. Her stomache was often upset.
This book has magic, romance, kissing, adventure, beauty and is just a fun read. I enjoyed it.
